The NBA is finally back! This season is going to be full of questions ranging from how far the Rockets will make it this season to Derrick Rose’s possibility of making it back to MVP caliber.
There are so many things to think about that it may bring on a headache. Don’t worry though, ESPN and the league will make sure you will receive that headache in due time. They will be hammering our lives away with information, making sure we are never out of the loop.
What team will Carmelo Anthony sign with when the season is done? Indeed the ball was just tipped off and people are already talking about 2014 offseason. Anthony is finally reaching his opportunity to test the free agent waters and everyone is interested in where he may go. I believe that Anthony will end up in either a Lakers jersey or a Cavaliers jersey. It all depends on the stress and pressure he is willing to place on his shoulders. In Los Angeles, anything short of an NBA Championship is seen as a failure — just ask Dwight Howard. Anthony would head there knowing he’s expected to win as soon as possible. However, with the Cavaliers, he would still be expected to win, but they would give him the first year to get used to things and build team chemistry. I mean, the Heat didn’t win the first time together and made up for it twice.
That leads me to the largest headache of them all. Will the Miami Heat win their third consecutive title this season? Honestly, I refuse to be coy and indirect about the whole thing: Yes. The Eastern Conference has more teams now that could have the Heat’s number, but Miami keeps getting better. Everyone wants their heads on a platter and I can’t say with full confidence that any team will get it. The only way Miami won’t win this season is if Lebron James suffers a season-ending injury, or if everyone else on the roster gets hurt.
There will be many more headaches coming from the media this season, but it’s a headache we’ll all enjoy. The NBA is back!
The NBA returns!
