Nestled into a small space in Brookline’s Coolidge Corner neighborhood, the Coolidge Corner Clubhouse (CCC) is a throwback to some of the city’s great old sports bars. The bar oozes New England sports history through every brick in its walls with portraits of great athletes and murals of sports scenes tucked around its large TVs, which seem to have been placed everywhere they could fit. The atmosphere is perfect for serious sports fans, as you can tell that the games are the first priority in the 19-year-old pub.
After the games, the food is second-greatest priority. The extensive menu features a bevy of great burger options named after the city’s greatest athletes. “The Yaz,” named after Carl Yastremski, is a fantastic option, topped with bacon and a fried egg. The “Rocky Balboa” is a unique Italian burger topped with sweet marinara sauce. If you’re in the mood for something lighter, try the “garden grilled cheese,” stuffed with portobello mushrooms and gooey mozzarella cheese.
Hands down though, the star of the menu is the curly fries. The CCC has taken a pub staple and knocked it out of the park with perfectly-seasoned potato strips served in heaping portions with every entrée. The fries have consistently been named among the best in the city by many publications, and they definitely did not disappoint.
The drink options are widespread with dozens of bottled beers available and even more on tap. There are also plenty of specialty drinks to choose from if you’re looking for something out of the box. The southern lemonade was a standout with sweet tea infused vodka.
While the place is tiny by sports bar standards, the proprietors of the CCC have managed to get the most out of their space, with a TV covering nearly every square inch of the walls. The atmosphere is extremely authentic and pretty hard to beat. The CCC has really strived to bring the sports fans of Boston together into a cozy place with great food and even better times.
