Hello students of UMass Boston!

My name is Gabriel Sánchez, but you can call me Gabe. I’ve been with the Mass Media, UMass Boston’s student run newspaper, for the past three years, and this is my first full year as Editor in Chief (I started off as a volunteer).

In my time here, I’ve seen the Mass Media evolve and expand as we’ve spent time on the paper. I hope that with the help of colleagues, we can expand the readership level that we have. I’ve had exchanges that led me to realize that some students are unaware of the presence of a newspaper on campus; it is my goal to change that. A big part of that will be to diversify our digital media content, through the addition of video and podcasts, which we undoubtedly aim to do.

We are always open to expanding our staff levels. As of the start of this Spring ‘15 semester, our newspaper comprised 21 writers, editors, and photographers. We would welcome more writers, copyeditors and photographers or illustrators to join us.

We are also always looking for new ideas for campus-related stories;  if you have a story that you think we should work on or you would like to join The Mass Media family email [email protected].
