The UMass women’s volleyball team won all six sets that they played against Wentworth Institute Tech. and Lasell College as they secured two victories in a single afternoon. UMass has now won five of their last six games to improve their record to 6-14.
In the Beacons’ first game, Wentworth got off to early leads of 10-6 and 17-10 due to some communication problems among the Beacon players. But UMass stormed back as on the court dialogue improved. Some mental errors on the part of Wentworth let UMass even the score at 19, eventually forcing Wentworth to take a timeout.
After the timeout, UMass scored six straight points to force another Wentworth timeout. During the timeout, Beacons coach Derek Schmitt said over and over to his team “don’t let up.” UMass finished off the first set 30-23, to take a 1-0 set lead. But Coach Schmitt was still unhappy by the team’s communication on the court.
In the second set, Wentworth once again took the early advantage due to mistakes by the Beacons with scores of 7-2 and then 13-8. But the Beacons rallied once have played better,” said the
