Dear Mass Media readers, Welcome. I claim no literary value and I am certainly not news worthy so lets cut the crap. I’m concerned and I have a short list that I would like to share with my fellow students.
1. We have a radio station – 91.9 WUMB.2. The University receives $37 from all students that goes into the Student Activities Trust Fund. The Undergraduate Student Senate decides which student clubs and organizations receive this money. There are around 1,500 undergraduate students. The Undergraduate Senate will be holding special elections to fill the twelve vacant seats. Take the money and run.3. We have an art gallery. It’s in the McCormack building on the first floor.4. The third floor of the Campus Center is home to many student organizations including: The Mass Media, Lux Magazine, Chord Magazine, The Watermark, and houses all of the Centers and the few clubs that are lucky enough to receive space.5. The office of Student Activities has discounted movie tickets and many other offers made possible by SAEC6. SAEC or the Student Arts and Events Council receives the majority of funding from the SATF. You can volunteer with the SAEC. Take the money and run.7. We have a pool. It’s in the Clark Athletic Center.8. There is a greenhouse on the forth floor of the Science building.9. The drawing classes have nude models. It’s a nice way to satisfy the arts diversity requirement for the college of liberal arts.10. The Undergraduate Student Senate offices are on the second floor of the Campus Center. They can no longer hide.11. The University Dining Club (Not the Cafeteria) is on the second floor of the Campus Center. It’s directly above the Cafeteria. It cost around $9 for an all you can eat lunch including a salad bar, dessert, and coffee. Come early for pie and cookies. They close at 2:00.12. Our Student Trustee is Tara DeSisto. She sits on the Board of Trustees for the University of Massachusetts system.13. We need to demand better dining facilities.14. There is a gym on the first floor of the McCormack building open to all students.15. There are many lectures, performances, panels, and discussions going on. Not many of them are advertised.
These are not listed in any specific order.
Sincerely,
