Coming in as a freshmen from Alaska, Burtness-Adams wasted no time in showing how valuable she was to the Lady Beacons. She was the second setter and serving specialist who had a team high 6 aces in a game against Rhode Island College on Halloween 2009. Now, the 5’9″ sophomore is a captain and was a huge reason the Lady Beacons advanced all the way to the Elite 8 this past November. The Mass Media had a chance to catch up with Burtness-Adams and this is what she told us.
MM: What do you do on game day? Anything special?
FBA:I usually take a nap, a power nap. Then I go for a walk by myself, with my iPod and get zoned in and ready for the game. When I get to the gym, I usually get made fun of by my teammates. I’m that girl (she says jokingly).
MM: What made you decide to come to Boston?
FBA: I wanted a city. Even though I say I live in a city, Fairbanks is really not a city. I pretty much searched and visited every city in the United States and this is the one I wound up picking. I would say it was a good choice.
