Located below the Middle East—right off the Central Red Line stop—is an underground oasis for 18 party animals called Throwed. You may have already heard about or even been to some of the crazy weeknight dance parties at Throwed, I know I sure have. The great thing about this place is that from the moment you walk in, you know it’s time to party, hard.
Throwed is not only known for their entertaining themes, different each and every week, such as Natural Disaster, Ke$ha, Jersey Shore (just to name a few), but the actual ambiance of the place is absolutely wild. Picture hundreds of college students packed into one room filled with insane decorations, dressed in crazy outfits, with plenty of room to dance. No one sits out a song at Throwed. This is because of the hypnotic indie/electronic music that is blasted at high volumes.
Located at the front of the venue is a stage which usually holds an array of professional dancers and DJs. The vibes between the dancers, DJ, and audience is electric, one feeds off the other’s energy creating a beautiful cycle.
There is also the fun feature of having the opportunity to take a “photo booth” picture with your friends. Done by a professional, these photos are taken in front of a fun backdrop with various props. A few days later, these pictures show up on Facebook so that you can relive the memories you had with your friends once again!
For all those 20 year olds out there who have 21 friends and feel left out every weekend because of their inability to be let into any bars or clubs you’re in luck! Throwed offers a fully stocked bar for the over 21 crowed; you’re offered the convenience of partying at a place where you don’t have to feel bad about dragging your slightly older friends to.
I happen to go to Throwed almost every week, so take my word for it when I say it is worth the $15 cover charge. No other 18 club comes close to the energy and sheer insanity of this place. You WILL leave with your ears ringing and your adrenaline pumping.
Throwed’s doors open between 9 and 9:30 on Tuesday or Thursday nights and closes down around 1:30. Add them on Facebook to keep up with their themes and dates! If you or any of your friends know of fun spots for the under-21 crowd in Boston, e-mail [email protected].
