Record enrollment numbers at UMB this semester prompted the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) to hold special elections Wednesday Sept. 14, aiming to increase the number of student senators and better represent the student body.
The special elections were open to existing student senators, who voted in 21 new ones. The USG now has a total of 30 serving student senators. This allows them to meet their requirment of having one senator per 500 students. Regular general elections, open to all undergraduates, will be held in the spring as usual.
The USG has three committees and a judicial branch. The committee of Student Events and Organizations is in charge of funding events by clubs and student centers. The Campus Community Affairs committee is responsible for community outreach. The Budget and Finance committee handles the USG’s budget. The president of the student body is Travis Henderson.
