Are you brand spanking new or just a regular who has yet to explore
everything the campus has to offer? Well, you’re in for a treat!
Allow me to introduce you to the Campus Survival Guide––everything
you need to know about UMass Boston and more.
CAMPUS
CENTER
One Stop: Have a question? The One Stop is your
one stop for an answer. The people at One Stop can assist you in
almost any issue in a convenient, walk-in manner. If they’re not
able to solve the problem, they’ll certainly point you in the right
direction.
Game Room: If you’re looking for a place to play
some pocket billiards (that’s table pool for less classy people),
well check out the Game Room. Not a pool player? Well, there’s
plenty of board games to choose from, or you could just
chillax.
Academic Advising: Do you downright suck at math?
Well, Academic Advising can provide you with a tutor for most major
subjects. They can also help you out with any issues regarding your
academic record. Not too shabby.
Student Senate: Did you know that students have a
voice? The Undergraduate Student Senate is here to listen, to act
on your behalf for the betterment of your campus experience! Hop on
down if you’re opinionated or want to be more involved.
Student Activities and Clubs: Cheap tickets to the
movies or museums, all sorts of student-run clubs from the African
Student Union to the Wellness Center, and the best student
newspaper, all on the third floor of the Campus Center.
WHEATLEY
Venture Development Center: Tucked away like the
Chamber of Secrets, is the VDC. If you dare to venture through the
labyrinth that is Wheatley, within the aging architecture is the
modern, high tech center that funds the ideas of tomorrow. They
have nice chairs too.
McCORMACK
Beacon Fitness Center: Screw the game room; go to
the gym! It’s part of your tuition, so you might as well take
advantage of it. There’s a wide range of machines. My personal
favorite is the one that spreads your legs… get your mind out of
the gutter.
HEALEY
LIBRARY
You need a place to hit them books? Check out the Healey library.
Ain’t got your own laptop? Healey can hook you up with a laptop or
just hang in the computer lab. The basement and 12th floor are
perfect places for a number two. Don’t be snitching that to
anyone.
QUINN
ADMIN
The Quinn Administration Building doesn’t attract too much student
traffic, go figure. However, that makes it the perfect place to
have a study group. If you’re feeling hungry, you won’t need to
trek across campus; the Quinn Cafe has the goods to keep you
going.
CLARK
ATHLETIC
If you refuse to hit the gym, try your hand at some ping-pong or
maybe go for a dip in the pool at the Clark Athletic Center.
There’s even an ice rink!
FOX
POINT
If you’re daring enough, visit Fox Point Pavilion for a kayaking
adventure or a soothing harbor cruise tour. Like the good things in
life, it’s free with your student ID.
