Just because it is cold outside does not mean you can’t show a little leg. The top fashion houses are liberating a  summer favorite. Winter shorts have recently been seen in runway shows of many top designers including Tommy Hilfiger and Chanel. But this trend is not limited to haute couture markets, mainstream stores like the Gap and Free People  are hopping on the bandwagon. So, whether you are going to class or heading out for a night of dancing with friends, winter shorts are a fun alternative to typically bulky winter wear.

Fabric The type of fabric is the most important factor when considering what type of shorts to buy. You definitely do not want to wear linen or cotton shorts in the winter. These are strictly summer fabrics.  Wearing them in the winter  these lightweight textiles will make you look like it is laundry day. Some common winter fabrics to try are tweed and wool.   Ways to wear this style   Day  It is frigid outside. Your walk to class is going to be in 30 degree ( or less) weather. Don’t panic. Winter shorts are  still a great choice. Pair them with a pair of knit tights or leggings, mid calf flat boots, a turtle neck, and bold accessories . Finish off your look with a toasty winter coat.  When you reach your destination, remove jacket to reveal a fabulous ensemble.  

Night For a chilly night out on the town, a dress and  bare legs are out of the question. Take the same winter shorts worn earlier and wear them to a night club! Pair the shorts with some opaque tights and heeled booties. A silk top against tweed or wool shorts will really pull the outfit together. Add some sparkly jewelry to complete your nighttime look.
