iMuscle 2 has become one of the most innovative strength training applications on the market. It separates 152 muscles in the human body into three parts, showing both primary and secondary muscles, letting consumers choose exactly which muscles they would like to work out. Every muscle contains several primary exercises, secondary exercises, and stretches.
iMuscle 2 was created by 3D4Medical, an award winning technology company that specializes in creating medical, educational and health and fitness apps for professionals, patients, and students. They have been especially recognized for their graphics and visualizations. They have created an anatomically correct 3-D model that also accurately illustrates the relationships between muscles. 3D4Medical states on their Facebook page that their mission is “to revolutionize medical education for physicians, students and patients with our innovative 3-D products.”
The app is very user friendly and allows the user to rotate the body and zoom in on particular areas. Finding exercises can either be done by tapping a certain muscle or by searching the database. Once certain exercises have been found, personalized workouts can be created. There are also 50 preset workouts for those who need a bit more guidance.
During the workout, the user is shown how to correctly perform exercises and stretches with 3-D animations and written explanations. They are also encouraged to track their progress by entering the set, rep, weight details, and by using the Body Tracker to record how many inches gained and lost for respective body parts. It is also possible to share workouts with friends for those who prefer having a workout buddy.
CNET Review raves, “iMuscle acts as a great workout companion while you’re at the gym, giving you detailed information about each workout, and letting you set up a regimen to focus on the areas of your body you want to improve. Anyone who goes to the gym and wants to learn more about specific types of workouts should check out this app.”
The positive reviews do not end there. The Google Play Store has 1,655 reviews averaged out to a 4.5 star rating, with 1,470 of those ratings being four to five stars. While the majority of ratings rave about the app, there have been many complaints of the app frequently crashing on non-iOS devices.
