Although the Women’s Soccer Team is dealing with some injury woes right now, Head Coach Amy Zombeck and team captains Alyssa Fugile and Kerri Alexander are confident that the team will rebound and be able to compete this season. Zombeck was quoted saying, “We are a young team trying to overcome some injuries right now, and once we get everybody back healthy we are gonna have a good solid team that’s gonna compete every day.” She continued: “I think we have a bright future in the little east this season, and I think it’s gonna be a good year.”
When I spoke to team captains Fugile (sophomore) and Alexander (junior) they echoed the sentiment of a team that will compete every game. Fugile said that she is excited for the upcoming season, and that the team was very close off the field, which leads to more success on the field. Alexander (known as “Alexander The Great” inside the locker room) stated that although the team is very young, it is also very talented. Both acknowledged that the team is always looking to get better. Now we just have to wait and see if the team reaches the level that they aspire to be at.
