Bring Your Prom Dress To Campus
Boston, Mass. (February 2005)- Do you remember your prom?
It was the event that truly culminated your high school career. That one magical night when you were a dazzling princess or a dapper prince, dressed to the nines.
But what happened to that outfit after the prom?
The guys returned their tuxedos to the shops where they got them. The women, however, have their dresses hung in a closet where they’ll stay for many years until they are no longer in style and are thrown away or given away.
Anton’s Cleaners would like you to bring those dresses to campus when you come back from spring break.
In conjunction with its promotional partner, Fox25, Anton’s is launching an exciting new community service program, Belle of the Ball. Through Belle of the Ball, dresses are being collected, dry-cleaned and provided to girls who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend their proms due to the expense. The collection drive runs through April 16.
After the collection, on April 30, Anton’s Cleaners will host a boutique at Simmons College where the invited girls will be able to “shop” for their dresses. At the boutique, a volunteer personal shopper will assist each girl with finding her perfect dress.
“So many girls cannot afford to attend their proms,” says Charles A. Anton of Anton’s Cleaners. “Instead of hanging in the back of someone’s closet, a dress can help create an amazing evening and a wonderful memory for its lucky new owner. We’re trying to encourage people to dust of those prom dress and help some young girls feel like royalty for a night.”
Dresses can be dropped off at any of Anton’s 43 stores throughout the state and in Southern New Hampshire. They can be any size, but should be in good shape, only “gently worn” and should be no more than 3-4 years old so that they are still trendy.
Anton’s Cleaners is a family-owned business with 43 stores in eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Community service programs have been a priority for Anton’s Cleaners for many years. To find an Anton’s Cleaners near you, visit www.antons.com.
