To those of you who stand on a “voiceless shore”:
Yesterday, I attended a meeting of Public Higher Education Made Personal, a student group involved with writing letters to local representatives to address Gov. Romney’s reorganization plan and the budget cuts. Can you believe that only 170 letters out of a sea of 12,000 students were written? Of course, some of you may have written one at home and mailed it personally. The rest of you, get off your butt, pick up a pen and start writing. Unless your mother goes to this school, you have to do this for yourself. The days of “let George do it” are over. Nobody else can save this campus but you. We want to inundate the State House with letters. The first letters that representatives and senators read are the handwritten ones from their constituents (according to Rep. Jarrett Barrios of Cambridge), so include your address if your write. If you want to do more and get involved contact us at http://group.yahoo.com/groups/phemp/
Let Mitt know that UMASS Boston students “have not yet begun to fight”. Let your voice C.R.K.
