Collaboration and Integration: Making the Most of Public Systems 9am-4pm, Assumption College, Worcester. Public agencies– such as vocational rehabilitation, mental health, developmental disabilities, workforce development, and One-Stop Career Centers– can be confusing and overwhelming for people with disabilities, families, and professionals. This workshop provides a basic overview of public service systems, most of which are specifically designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities. This session offers specific strategies on how to apply for services and build collaborations between agencies to benefit job seekers with disabilities. Professor Paul Tucker, Senior member of the UMB Art Faculty, and Founder and Executive Director of Arts on the Point, will briefly discuss the work of Maya Lin, who recently agreed to create a site specific “earth work” in front of the new campus center. Tucker’s remarks will be followed by a screening of the film “Maya Lin – A Strong Clear Vision”, which details Lin’s process as she created the piece which became The Vietnam Memorial.
