After this long drawn-out winter weather makes its exit (for real this time), we can finally dance under the warm sun and squish baby sunflowers between our toes — isn’t that what’s spring all about? Now is the time to think about where you are going to stash those bulky winter coats and the rest of your winter attire. What if I can show that you don’t have to hide them all. Yes, I am saying you can actually recycle some of your winter clothes and wear them through the spring. Here are some tips on how to prep for the spring by looking back at your winter.
1. Sweaters are sweeter
Sweaters are the best way to battle those cool morning temperatures and the rain that are synonymous with spring weather. Take those light-weight sweaters that you use to layer with and wear it alone. Wear a fitted sweater with skinny jeans and nice strappy wedges. Feeling flirty? Then take a lose or oversized sweater and wear it over a fit flowy dress. You can also play dress-up with cropped sweaters or sweater dresses. Sweaters are your best friend, use it as so.
2. Boots are made for wearing
Boots are really an all weather footwear. The best thing about them is that they come in all styles so you are never short on choices. Keep those riding boots handy as they go well with jeans and mini dresses. Want to show some leg? Then wear some ankle boots. You will never look more chic than when you wear booties with the right outfit. Find one for a day out in the city or a day in the office. There’s a boot to fit the mood.
3. What are you hiding under that hat?
Hats are a perfect accent to any outfit. Like boots, there are many different styles to choose from for any weather or occasion. Hats are no longer used to hide a bad hair day, it is not acceptable to wear them on purpose. Garb a wide-brimmed sun hat for a day at the beach or a beanie for walk around the block. There’s a style of hat for any style of hair.
4. A lady should cover their legs
Pantyhose, stockings, or knee-high socks are perfect for the spring — they give you the incentive to wear clothes that reach above the knees. Have fun with different patterns and colors, especially colors. If you plan on breaking out the short but you are afraid of that sea breeze then cover those legs with any of the former.
It is hard to stomach the amount of money spent on winter clothes when you feel like they can’t be used for anything but the cold temperature. Well, I am here to calm your pain. Enjoy the warmer air with clothes from your closet and don’t forget to keep it light, in attitude and in style. You’re welcome, ladies!
