9/21/2014

10:50 am A member of the Healey Library staff called Public Safety to report that an alarm in stairwell #2 was going off. Public Safety could not shut off the alarm and Facilities was called.

9/22/2014

4:08 pm A male party was called to report that he had hit another vehicle while leaving the Clark Athletic Center Parking Lot.

8:02 pm Beacon Fitness Center staff called Public Safety after a male party in his 20s dislocated his shoulder. EMS was requested. The male cancelled EMS and popped his shoulder back into place. The male party declined further medical attention.

11:38 pm A male party came into the Public Safety office to report that he had left his wallet on a bus two hours before.

7:19 am Public Safety responded to the Bursar’s Office in the Campus Center for an alarm going off. All was in order.

8:43 am Public Safety was went to McCormack Hall after a caller reported that several parties were sitting with their legs hanging over the wall near the entrance to the Beacon Fitness Center.

7:22 pm A party called Public Safety to report that someone was digging up plants on the median on Bianculli Blvd.

6:11 am A party called Public Safety to report that a bird was stuck in the fencing between the glass in the Lower Level of the Science Center. No bird was found.

2:12 pm A female party called Public Safety to report that her credit card had been stolen from her office in the Campus Center on Sept. 10.

4:49 pm A party called to report that students were possibly smoking marijuana in the Science Center. No parties were in the area. The smell was still there.

5:28 pm A party called to report that a bike was stolen from behind Wheatley Hall. The bike is worth $400-500.

7:39 pm Public Safety went to the Bursar’s Office in the Campus Center for an alarm going off. Everything appeared in order.

11:28 pm A male party called Public Safety after he lost his keys in the Beacon Lot. Public Safety helped the male party look for his keys. No keys were found and Public Safety gave the male party the telephone number for a taxi company.

9/25/2014

6:19 pm A male party called after he couldn’t remember where he parked his vehicle. The party parked in Lot B, not D.

9:19 pm A female party called after she couldn’t remember where she parked her vehicle. Party had parked in the turn between Parking Lot D and Harbor Point. Vehicle had been towed by the Boston Police Department.

9:42 pm Public Safety was called to the Bayside Parking Lot for a male party who was having an overdose. Boston EMS and Boston Fire Department were on scene. Boston EMS transported the male to a local hospital.

9/26/2014

11:24 am A member of Customer Service called Public Safety to Wheatley Hall for a male party who kept putting a chair on the ledge on the platform near Snowden Auditorium. He had been doing this on a regular basis and it was unsafe. The male party was given a verbal warning and was sent on his way.

6:04 pm A party called to report that there were multiple vehicles driving in a closed off area near the Harbor Walkway Construction Site. Officers didn’t find anyone in the area.

3:01 am The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation called Public Safety to report that two vehicles were drag racing in the Bayside Parking Lot. Upon arrival, the vehicles had left and were last seen heading towards William Day Blvd.

10:55 pm Utilities called to report a generator trouble alarm in the Upper Level of the Quinn Administration Building. Utilities said that they did not have a key to open the telecom room and wanted Public Safety to make sure that the room was secure. Public Safety was eventually able to gain access. Facilities will be charging the control panels’ battery.

9/28/2014

9:14 am Public Safety received a phone call from a female party requesting to have a report taken after someone had struck her vehicle. The female party stated that other driver had exchanged paperwork before he left.

11:18 am Public Safety was called to the Bursar’s Office in the Campus Center for an alarm going off. Everything was in order and the offices were occupied by employees.

12:38 am Public Safety assisted Harbor Point on The Bay Security with an unruly male party.

9:02 am A UMass Boston student called Public Safety to the 2nd floor of the Science Center after he drank water from the water fountain near the men’s bathroom. The male party claimed that he drank the water and within a few minutes he felt very ill and had started vomiting. The male noticed that there was a pink residue in the vomit. The male declined medical attention. Facilities and Environmental Health were notified and were aware of the problem.

9/30/2014

9:41 am A female party came to Public Safety to report that two iPads had been stolen from the Media Lab in McCormack Hall. The party stated that the incident had happened on Sept. 25. The female said that iPads had been distributed out in the beginning of the semester from a cart. The cart holds a 23 iPads and that two had disappeared in between the time that they were delivered to the classroom and when they were picked up.

12:44 pm A female called Public Safety to report that another female had made possible threats against herself. The caller told Public Safety that the female had been driving around looking to park and that she was very angry. The female had told the caller to meet her in the Quinn Administration Building and to have an ambulance ready for when she showed up. The caller the also stated that she found out that the female had made a similar threat to another member of UMass Boston administration. Upon arrival, officers did not find the female. Officers told the administrator to contact Public Safety if the female did not show up. The party eventually showed up and the administrator declined police assistance.

1:43 pm Public Safety was called to Enrollment Service in Campus Center for an alarm going off. A staff employee had hit the button by accident.

2:34 pm A female party came to Public Safety to report that her wallet had been stolen from the Campus Center Cafeteria on Sept. 23 between the hours of 6-7pm.

4:15 pm Public Safety was called to the Weight Room in the Clark Athletic Center for a female party in her early 20’s who had been weight lifting and had hit her head with the weights. The party was bleeding and briefly lost consciousness for a few seconds. Party was alert and conscious. Boston EMS arrived and the female was transported to an area hospital.

9:33 pm A male party called Public Safety to report that an elderly couple appeared to be lost and couldn’t find their vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found that the elderly couple had been helped by other people.

10:01 pm Public Safety officers were flagged down by two parties on Mt. Vernon St to file a complaint.

11:16 pm Public Safety received a call from Harbor Point on The Bay Security for a report of a car doing donuts in the Bayside Parking Lot. A verbal warning was issued to the operators.

10/1/2014

12:42 pm Public Safety conducted a well-being check after a student received a text from his brother saying “I need help”. The student then received a second text stating that the message had been sent accidently while he was taking a test. Officers went to Wheatley Hall to talk to the brother but found that the brother had finished his test and had left. Officers were able to make contact with the brother via a recorded phone line and the brother said that he was fine.

4:05 pm A party came to the Public Safety office to report that they had been hit by a vehicle in the Lot D Parking Lot that morning.

10/2/2014

8:41 am A parent of a UMass Boston student called Public Safety to report that her daughter had not contacted her for three days and that was unusual. The parent noted that her daughter had not been on Facebook or Instagram. The parent had called and tweeted her daughter but no response. Public Safety dispatch left a message on the student’s phone. The parent called back later to report that her daughter had contacted her.

10:00 am Gilbane Inc., a construction contractor contacted Public Safety to report that a party had found grease stains on the driver’s handle of his vehicle.

10:45 am Public Safety received a call about three parties stuck in Elevator #2 in Healey Library.

4:18 pm Public Safety responded to the Clark Athletic Center for a fire alarm going off in the ice rink. Officers noted that it might have been caused by the machine room underneath the stands. Smoke was found to be coming from the machine room. Boston Fire Department arrived on scene and people were eventually allowed back into the building.

5:42 pm A party came to Public Safety to report that their vehicle had been hit by another vehicle in the Campus Center Circle Road on Oct. 1, and that the other operator driver was not around to exchange papers. Party wanted to file an accident report.

6:32 pm A party came to the Public Safety office to report a suspicious vehicle on University Drive South. Area was clear on arrival.

8:02 pm Public Safety officers looked in the Bayside Parking Lot for a suspicious male party that was described as dressing in dark clothing with a hoodie. The party had been seen heading toward the electrical transmission at the rear of the Corcoran Jennison office. Nothing was found upon investigation.

10/3/2014

9:25 am A party came to the Public Safety to report that his U.S. Postal ID had been stolen or lost and that it was required for work. Party needed a report for documentation.

2:37 pm Boston EMS was called to the Campus Center for a female party who fainted on the bus. The party was transported to an area hospital.

3:23 pm Officers responded to the Campus Center after receiving a call for a suspicious person. The person was described as a male who was described as Hispanic of Middle Eastern who was holding two backpacks and had what appeared to be a jacket on his head. The caller said that male party appeared to be homeless. The male was seen boarding an elevator on the 2nd floor that was heading down. The caller didn’t know what floor the party was headed to. The party was gone when officers arrived on scene.

10/4/2014

10:24 am A staff member called Public Safety about a white male who was smoking inside the 1st floor of the Campus Center and who also appeared to be intoxicated. Officers talked to the student and found that he was a UMass student who was waiting for a bus to go home.

7:02 pm Public Safety and Boston Fire Department responded to the Clark Athletic Center ice rink for a fire alarm going off. Alarm stopped. Boston Fire Department cleared the area.
