Los Angeles, California is the place I call home; the City of Angels, but better known for its sunny days, great beaches and friendly people all year round. The weather in Los Angeles feels like spring and early summer 365 days a year. I wonder if that has anything to do with the women in Los Angeles maintaining their appearance year round, more so than the women of Boston.
Should weather determine how well a woman keeps herself together? I moved to Boston in the dead of winter and didn’t meet a single person who would shave or wax her legs; nor get a pedicure. Is there some unspoken rule against looking your best during wintertime? Ok, so the weather isn’t so great between December and March, but we shouldn’t take the frustration out on ourselves. We might actually feel better if we would continue to get our pedicures and maintain our meetings with the esthetician. Besides, when you are walking around your warm house or apartment, with no shoes, wouldn’t you rather see shapely, shining toes looking back at you?
With the arrival of spring and warmer weather, women’s pride in appearance is making a comeback. I have noticed the French manicured toes and the pink polish gracing the sandals of stylish women strolling Newbury on days when the temperature dances delightfully through the sixties. Women, I urge you to pamper yourselves and take pride in how you look – even if you are wearing a wool coat and boots up to your knee. When you take off your stylish winter bundles you can relish in the beauty underneath. Who cares if no one else sees your hidden beauty? Take pleasure in the self-importance that you convey.
