How many times have you told yourself that “when I get a chance, I’m going to take a trip to…?” Whatever finishes that statement for you is where you need to be. So many times we continue to say what we are going to do once we achieve a certain goal such as get more money or get more time off. Ladies, life is short and we are young, stop with all the excuses and take a trip you have been putting off!
Money puts mental barriers on many people. However, being short of money has never stopped me from taking a trip. It does however limit the type of trip that I am able to take. If your funds are somewhat limited you can take a short trip during the weekday, which is cheaper than the weekend. You can also wait for Airtran or JetBlue to have a sale. Another great option is to get a group of friends to take a trip together and split the costs. With severely limited funds there are other options, try finding a place within driving distance where you have family or friends to stay with. This not only helps your finances, but gives you a chance to spend a little extra time with someone you rarely get to spend see. Call up that cousin, friend or sibling that you were very close to growing up, but have since let current duties keep you apart. You can wake up and have breakfast together in your pajamas and talk for two hours like you did when you were 15 years old.
Many people complain that they have no time to travel. Is lack of time really an excuse not to get away? My answer is a definite no. I did not say to take a six-week vacation backpacking in Europe. Although that would be nice, a simple day or weekend trip will suffice for someone with limited time. Whether you are working full-time, a student, or raising a family you need time outside of your responsibilities. Take a day or two off and take a short road trip or flight to an area that you have never been to, but would like to see. Life is all about experiences and if you are not experiencing new places and different ways of life and cultures, are you really living? Let’s get out and see some places that we have never seen before.
Traveling can be a stress reducer, but it can also increase stress. Make sure your trip is the former. Do not over extend yourself. If you only have $100 to spend, your trip will not be on a ten-day vacation in Bali. Start looking at local one to two day options. Whatever you do, make sure that you enjoy yourself and have time to relax and see the sights that you set out to. If you decide to go with friends, make sure they are the friends that are least likely to drive you crazy.
Life is all about new experiences. Go beyond the comforts of home and leave behind those responsibilities for a short time, we are all overdue for a get away. So Let’s Get Up and Go!!
