Throughout the past 13 years, UMass Boston lacrosse has put together a top flight track record, including qualifying for the Little East Conference post season every year, and compiling a 118-70 record since 1993. Coming off a 9-5 record in 2006, the Beacons look to make another run at a Little East Championship under the leadership of last years LEC Coach of the Year Myles Berry. Berry has won the honors three times, including being the only coach in history to do so in two sports, soccer and lacrosse. There is a good deal of history for this year’s squad to live up to including a banner season in 2001 in which the team finished with a 12-5 overall record and earned it’s first ECAC tournament birth in more than 20 years. The squad competed in the inaugural LEC championship game and five team members were named to the LEC All-Star Team. UMass Boston will once again be a contender for the LEC title this year and will also receive an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament at the end of the season. Last year’s top scorers, Christopher Hanafin, Chris Nyman and Robert Thayer, will all be returning and Nick Eaton will likely start in goal once again.
