The Boston Bruins are finally relevant again in Boston. It only took about ten years, but better late than never, no? With the influx of excitement around the Garden, the Mass Media needs a strong, smart hockey mind to shed some light on this season’s playoffs. Enter Peter Belisle, head coach of UMass Boston men’s hockey and one of the best hockey minds on campus. This week, we ask Peter if the Bruins have what it takes to bring Lord Stanley’s Cup to Boston for the first time in 37 years.

Definitely. When [Patrice] Bergeron is on your third line …. They’re so deep. With guys like [Zdeno] Chara and [Dennis] Wideman, they’re just deep. I just think they have what it takes. They’re tough, they can play a finesse game, they can play a physical game. They’re loaded. They tore apart the Canadiens; the Canadiens were just outmatched. I thought they played well in that first game…but after that I didn’t think the Canadians had any momentum at all and the Bruins obviously had all the better chances. I definitely think have the ability to go deep in the playoffs.

Even though I’m a Canadiens fan, I think it would be great for Boston hockey if they can go far.
