The taxes levied by the IRS are meant to be paid on time, especially when it comes to elected officials in the Federal government – like the infamous Tom Daschle. President Obama is doing something right, but that’s not unexpected for someone who knows how to run his PR like any good celebrity from Hollywood (or Illinois in this case). On top of this, he’s willing to admit to his beloved NBC that, “I’ve got to own up to my mistake, which is that ultimately it’s important for this administration to send a message that there aren’t two sets of rules. You know, one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks who have to pay their taxes.”

It’s great to know that this “Candidate for Change” still has some sort of a judgment when it comes public sentiment – considering he didn’t bother to remove Geithner from his Treasury Post after failing to pay significant sum to our federal government. These guys are on the ball when it concerns their fat wallets and not so much when it comes to their moral obligations as elected officials in our national government. If Mr. Obama really wants to bring change, he better getting cracking by not letting his faulty judgment obfuscate his so-called “progressive program” and the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) from the nation’s focus or the House’s temperament.

I personally think Dillon Zhou’s American Horizon column is being far too tame when it comes to judging Obama’s weaknesses and strengths. This “community organizer” is charismatic, as Zhou put it, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that he has no real achievements throughout his lifetime, except for his years at super-liberal Harvard University. His “experienced” cabinet members are a bunch of hacks from the good times in the 1990’s. The Democrats’ “tenuous control of the house” is not, I repeat, not a good thing. This just means that Obama can just pass any kind of socialist-liberal legislation he wants without too much trouble in the way of filibusters. Sure, there are dissenters as shown in the recent vote on the stimulus bill, but that doesn’t mean that the problem doesn’t exist – as Zhou fails to point out in his article.

Hope and reality are two different concepts. I don’t want to live in the United Socialist States of America; I want to live in the free market America – with some stronger regulations on banks and investment firms of course. So far President Obama has done nothing to aid Main Street America in any significant way. He wants to build roads and highways, but he has little interest in really “changing” the hard-hit homeowner’s who are facing foreclosure, poverty, and unemployment. This $500 tax break is just baloney. It’s just another failed tactic from the Bush Administration. It’s not change, because the measures on the TARP are just failed policies repacked with useless spending.

We average Americans want to see spending that will bring stable jobs to Main Street America – not spending for big fat cats or socialist agendas. It’s good that this African-American has broken the glass ceiling, but it doesn’t mean he truly knows how to handle his power and didn’t get a solid majority in the race with 47% voting for McCain, an honorable war hero and true American Patriot who suffered for all of our freedoms in Vietnam.
