Wick’s Two Cents

There are always topics to ponder and opinions to take in the expanse of Boston sports. Every week, the Mass Media talks to Alan Wickstrom, UMB’s Sports Information Director, to get his opinion on a relevant Boston sports topic.

This week, Alan tells us who would win a seven-game series between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers if Boston does not make any trades or signings.

I think you have to go with the Cavs. There is a lot to be said for experience and beating the defending champs, but with all apologies to Kobe and Dwayne Wade, I think Lebron is the best player in basketball and adding Mo Williams was huge for him… You also have to remember they are 5-1 without West and Ilgauskus and their only loss was to the Lakers. That’s pretty good. But, I honestly believe that this season, the Celtics are only as good as Rondo is. When he’s on, they are close to unbeatable, but when he’s not, it’s tougher for them to win. If he’s on his game in a seven-game series starting today, then it’s really anybody’s game, but if the Cavs have home court advantage, you give it to them for sure and if they don’t, I still think they have the edge. The Cavs learned a lot from last year’s playoffs or actually, the last two year’s playoffs.
