Freshman forward Chris Wyman delivered a hat trick in his first-ever home game as a Beacon and won Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference East Rookie of the Week for the last week of November.
Wyman, who has four goals and three assists in five games, is second on the team in points and in ECAC east rookie scoring.
Team captain Kris Kranzky said Wyman is a hard worker on the ice and is a fast, smart player. He attributed Wyman’s early success to playing on a line with fellow freshman Brian Albert. The two were line mates on the Valley Junior Warriors of the Eastern Junior Hockey League in 2007-08 and combined for 30 goals and 62 assists in 44 games.
“Brian Albert and him work very well together,” Kranzky said. “They just know where each other is at so they really feed off each other.
“He’s had a few rebound goals, he’s had a few hardworking goals where he’s fought through the [defense] and made a nice shot. He’s had a little of everything. He’s a good all around player.”
Wyman’s three-goal outburst came in a 9-1 drubbing of Framingham State two weeks ago at Clark Athletic Center. He also added an assist in the win.
