Jack & Jade

Dear Jack and Jade,

I recently got a ride to Fields Corner using Uber and my driver, who definitely looked as if he were in his 40s, kept flirting with me. All I wanted to do was chill and get to my destination and this dirty rat kept asking me if I had a boyfriend and telling me that I was beautiful. He even told me that I should let him be my husband. Of course, I ignored him because I wasn’t trying to deal with that kind of bullshit. But then, when I ignored him, he got angry and stated, “I’m talking to you” and then had the audacity to swear at me. Of course I yelled at him to stop the car and got out to take the bus. Of course I’m smart, so I took a picture of his license number. I don’t know if I should report him, because I don’t want him to get fired and lose a job that could be his only source of income. What should I do?

Sincerely,

Young and Fed Up

Dear Young and Fed Up,

I’m glad you were smart enough to get out of the car. He could have driven you somewhere else and tried to hurt you. So, kudos to you, but don’t feel bad. He deserves to lose his job. He was a creep and acted inappropriately. Honestly, I would have cussed him out, so I give you props for having patience. He needs to be punished, so make sure to report him to Uber as soon as possible. You don’t want him treating another passenger like that.

Sincerely,

Jack and Jade

Dear Jack and Jade,

I recently missed math class because I had to attend my aunt’s funeral. When I told my teacher, he gave me such a hard time and told me there’s no exception for making up homework unless due to medical reasons. You don’t understand how upset I was. I was in a grieving state, and instead of my professor sympathizing with me, he said I would be getting a 0 since I wasn’t sick in bed coughing up my lungs. What should I do? My grades matter to me.

Sincerely,

College Blues

Dear College Blues,

Sorry for your loss. I hope your aunt rests in peace and that you feel better. Secondly, I advise you to visit the Dean of Students. It isn’t right for your professor to not give you an extension, especially when you have a valid reason for missing class and not completing the homework on time. I’m sure they’ll help you with your problem.

Sincerely,

Jack and Jade

Dear Jack and Jade,

Last week I backed out of my driveway and broke off my side mirror. I don’t know what happened, but the wall came out of nowhere. I’ve been hiding my car from my parents by parking my car down the street and walking up to my house. I am terrified to tell them because they will be upset about money coming out of their pockets to repair the mirror. I know they’ll figure it out soon. What should I do? I can’t drive around without a side mirror forever.

Sincerely,

Blind and Foolish

Dear Blind and Foolish,

Sometimes bad luck puts us in tough situations. I think you should tell your parents. You don’t want to be driving around without a side mirror because it could cause you to get into an accident or get pulled over. Yes, you will get in trouble, but at least you’ll relieve yourself of the guilt. And your car will get fixed. Don’t hide things from your parents. They always find out—trust me.

Best of Luck,

Jack and Jade
