Lady Beacons sophomore volleyball player Shannon Thompson was named Most Outstanding Player in last weekend’s LEC Conference Tournament. The Lady Beacons wound up winning their second consecutive title 3-1 over Keene St. The Moorpark, CA native has also won Little East Offensive Player of the Year as well as Rookie of the Year in her short but illustrious career as a Lady Beacon. The MassMedia caught up with her after practice last week and asked Thompson about how she gets ready for a game as well as how it felt to win Most Outstanding Player.
On getting ready for a game:
ST: I just go in the locker room and go in and talk. I think about the game, think about playing well, think about helping the team win. If others are in there all pumped up, I get pumped up. I just go in there and do what it takes to get ready and get focused.
On winning Most Outstanding Player:
ST: It felt really good. I was really excited about it. It is a nice honor to get. When I was in high school, I never got anything like this. I mean I got awards, but nothing high of an honor as that.
