Yep, it’s getting to be that time of the year. Shopping season is just around the corner for the holidays and we all know that it’s one of the most hassling times of the year.
Fortunately, if you have a video gamer in your life that loves and/or owns a Nintendo Wii, or if you are an aficionado yourself, you’re in luck. These five exciting games are sure to make most gamers happy.
Metroid: Other M
Genre: Action/Adventure
Price: $49.99
Rating: T for Teen
Number of Players: 1
This one is for people who like shooting big guns with lots of rocket action (who doesn’t?). This version of the Metroid saga has a dynamic new gameplay experience that will have a rush going through your body. You can have lock-on rockets and roll-and-lay bombs while getting a three-dimensional cinematic treatment as you progress through a spaceship infested with flora and fauna. This game will be hard to put down.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn
Genre: Platformer/Adventure
Price: $49.99
Rating: E for Everyone
Number of Players: 1-2
This game is probably one of the most innovative games that have come out in the last few years, including all the games designed specifically for Wii. Though it may be cartoonish on the surface, the actual game is actually quite complex. Your “yarn” version of Kirby makes his way through a cloth and fabric world, where both the buildings and an assortment of enemies are all made from materials from a seamstress’s shop, including zipper doors, buttoned flaps, and a giant Kirby-operated robot that rampages at your command. This game is exciting in its own childish yet highly entertaining way.
Just Dance 2
Genre: Music/Dance
Price: $39.99
Rating: E for Everyone
Number of Players: 1-8
If you want to chill out and do a little dancing but you don’t feel like dressing up and going to the club, whip out this little doozy! The game is easy to pick up and all you have to do is dance the night away. The appeal is further enhanced by a large repertoire of songs and routines that the game allows the player to experience, ranging from “Walk Like An Egyptian” to “Sympathy for the Devil.”
NBA Jam
Genre: Sports
Price: $49.99
Rating: E for Everyone
Number of Players: 1-4
Remember the arcade version of NBA Jam? Probably not, but it was a popular game that was based on a Midway design pitting two payers against the each other in a game of electronic hoops. This updated version is just as good with an easy-to-pick-up gameplay and no rules involved, where everything is allowed including fouls, stealing, and even gravity! Perfect for the sports fanatics, this game can lead to some insane competitions.
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Genre: Action/Adventure
Price: $48.99
Rating: T for Teen
Number of Players: 1
To put it simply, this game is just epic! After ten years of half-assed versions of Zelda’s exploits, Nintendo has finally released a Zelda game worthy of being considered a breakthrough for this entire series. Without spoiling the surprise, it can be said that it’s a full game with all the new generation features, including archery, sword-fighting, and equestrian feats. This game isn’t an easy one, but mastering it is well worth the effort as this game may just blow your mind.
