As your Student Trustee, my role is to serve on the Board of Trustees of the UMass System, which is a 22-member governing body for the University. The board has an authority of decision making for all five campuses in terms of capital projects, approving new academic programs, tuition, and operating budget. My responsibility is to provide perspective on how the proposed actions might affect the student population of the University of Massachusetts Boston. The position itself is a pretty significant responsibility but also one that provides an exceptional experience and prestigious opportunity to represent the diverse student body of our campus. In this position, students get a sight of where and how the major issues are being resolved. The decisions made by the board not only affect the five campuses, but the UMass System as a whole. It is quite substantial and a great experience to serve on a board with some of the most exceptional individuals in their fields and to witnesstheir commitment to serve UMass and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 
Serving an immensely talented and diverse student population of our campus is an extraordinary opportunity that has provided me with an exceptional lifelong experience. I highly encourage students to run for the Student Trustee position in the upcoming elections, it is an honor to serve and represent the students of UMass Boston and to advocate for what is best for them!
