Should the university replace WISER with a new system by the end of 2022 (e.g., Workday Student, Salesforce for Education, etc.)? WISER (also known as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) only received 3.6 out of 5 stars for its lack of ease to use, setup and quality of support (g2.com). Planning a future shouldn’t be this hard. The business of Higher Education Student Information Systems isn’t new. There are more than 90 vendors who will and are capable of delivering the service. While this proposal is an aim for a new replacement in 2022, any compromise solutions to make WISER more accessible for students will be accepted (A YES vote means you agree, A NO vote means you disagree with the statement).

Do you support increasing students’ contributions to the Student Activities Fund by $7 per semester, beginning Fall 2020? This fund directly benefits the student body of UMass Boston by providing financing for student clubs and organizations, campus events, and discounted tickets for attractions all over Boston. UMass Boston’s Student Activities Fee is currently the lowest in the entire UMass system and has not been increased for decades. This increase would bring the University more in-line with these standards and expand the capability of the school to sponsor student programs. This money is intended to enhance student life and experiences at the university. Specific examples of what this money could fund include: Increasing Campus Events and Entertainment -Welcome Week -Lawn on B Resources for Student Clubs and Organizations -Increases to club and organization funding -Creation of a special event fund -Creation of a public safety fund Discounted Tickets -Movie Tickets -Museum of Fine Arts -Museum of Science -Boston Aquarium A yes vote on this referendum question would increase the Student Activities Fee by $7 per semester, $14 per year.
