Welcome to Sh*t that scares people! A section of the paper where we ask you the community of the University of Massachusetts Boston about what scares the crap out of you all the most! Then based off of that, the fears that garner the most answers will get a short poem dedicated to them! The questions of the week this time were: What is the Monster that scares you the most? And, What does it take to be a Monster? The intention of this question was to get folks ready with Halloween coming closer and prepare them with ideas for costumes though the answers were a bit abstract I think that they are still interesting topics.
(Monster) of the week: Hidden Monsters
When people think about hidden monsters some good media examples of this could be the Weeping Angels from “Doctor Who,” stone statues which remain in place for as long as you are looking at them and the second you turn your head *Boom*! They are on your neck! In a different position than before! Another example is The Orphan, a movie in which a family adopts a little girl only to find out that she is a middle-aged Homicidal Maniac! Did I spoil it? I guess you didn’t see that coming, huh?
Have you ever thought about going to the light?
Its Right across the way.
Wading in the deep Blue
Radiating light
Inviting inside
Dark Water
A Bright Glow
A wide Chasm
Cavern of daggers
Eyes a Beady Abyss
A light Bright enough to outshine hope
Hunger great enough to outshine survival
Shimmering Blue sea tainted with red mist.
Jaws big enough to swallow a human fist
Or a school of fish
Marlin and Dory got away
But you?
Not Today.
(Fear)(Monster Qualities) of the week: A Monster with history/reputation: a good number of people said that every good monster always has a reputation or a kill count, as well as a history with their victims examples of this would be Jason. Jason has all of these things: reputation, history, and a kill count!
What’s scarier than a monster that never dies?
Imagine a monster
Which is intangible
And can’t be touched or fought?
Imagine a monster that takes control its victims
Makes them kill one another
Takes away their common sense
low
Making them believe that others are monsters too
Imagine a monster which takes a village to kill
And after it’s dead the village has killed
Imagine a monster that is impossible to win against
Because no one really wins in the end
Because it is always born again
And there is always a sacrifice
Make sure to protect yourself
Because violence never dies
