With Halloween quickly approaching, your inbox is about to start overflowing with invites to wear your best costume and hang out with some friends. Everyone loves a reason to celebrate! If you are looking to bring a nice dessert along that’s quick and easy to make, or even if you want to throw your own party, or simply have a nice fall dessert to share between you and another friend…you’ve come to the right place! Here’s some simple recipes that have great reviews online.
1. Graveyard pudding
We’ve all heard of worms in the dirt, but this takes on a creepy twist to that classic dessert. First, you’ll need vanilla pudding (two boxes will be enough for about five people) and one to two bags of sour gummy worms. Grab a dish that you might typically fill with brownies, and lay down some sour gummy worms. Once you’ve made the pudding (the directions are on the back of the box, so it shouldn’t be too difficult) fill the dish with the pudding. The worms will act as a surprise for guests as they eat. Then, get a box of Oreos, and crush them up either in a plastic bag, or crumble them over the pudding with your hands (make sure you wear gloves!). Next, top the pudding with some Milano cookies (cut in half) to create your graves! That’s all you’ll have to do for a simple and tasty dessert.
2. Boo-scotti
Grab some biscotti at the grocery store, they should have boxes full of them. Then pick up some chocolate frosting and white chocolate—you won’t need a lot of frosting, but grab some extra white chocolate, as you’ll be dipping the biscotti in this. Making this dessert is as simple as that, melt the white chocolate down (microwave it in a bowl for about 60 seconds, and stir it to make sure it doesn’t burn) and then dip the biscotti about half way in. Have a drying pan nearby for them to sit on as they dry, and once they do, grab your chocolate frosting and a piping bag to draw a face on your ghost themed dessert.
3. Outrageous Apples
Since fall is notorious for apple picking, while you’re at it, pick a few extra to try out for this dessert. You’ll also need to get some wooden Popsicle sticks, caramel, and Reese’s Pieces. You’ll want to grab caramel pieces, as they are much easier to melt to the right degree. Throw them in a pan over medium heat, and stir them with a wooden spoon until they’ve all melted together. Then, you’ll want to wash your apples and insert the Popsicle sticks so you can cover your apple in caramel. Before it’s done drying, attach the Reese’s Pieces (since they contain all the Halloween colors) and then leave them on a drying pan or a nonstick sheet. Once you’ve finished, place your dessert in the refrigerator!
Hopefully these desserts will be crowd pleasers for you as they have been for others. Enjoy the fall season before it’s gone too quick, and we’re stuck in the snow! Happy Halloween!
