Being the fall and tea fanatic I am, I found myself prancing through Downtown Crossing on the hunt for something that would fulfill both these areas of interest. I soon stumbled upon my favorite tea shop, David’s Tea. They are pretty well known, and I have gotten some seasonal teas from them in the past, but what I did not know is that I was going to come across the jackpot of teas. I found a tea sampler with twelve teas that all represent fall and Halloween! Now, of course it is in stores, but for some reason I could not find it on their website. I found their other Halloween tea collections but their cozy-tea sampler was nowhere to be seen. Even though it is not available online at this time, it is worth the trip to go and get some for yourself from the store. Since there are 12 teas in a pack, I couldn’t possibly drink all of them in a week and give a solid review. To help myself out, I am only going to review three teas this week and I will then chose another three or four teas to review next week.
The three teas that I drank this week were Forever Nuts, Blueberry Muffin, and English Toffee. Forever Nuts had such a strong smell when I opened the container. It reminded me of the smell of roasted nuts covered in cinnamon and sugar, and it honestly looked like a bunch of nuts with some dried fruit thrown in. Each cup has only 10 calories and it has no caffeine, and, honestly, it tastes even better than it smells. After I brewed myself a cup, I noticed that it had this beautiful golden-orange color and that it did not even need cream or sugar because it was already lightly sweetened from the brewing process. I would highly recommend this tea to anyone!
The second tea, Blueberry Muffin, was not as good as Forever Nuts but it was a lot more interesting. When I opened the container for the first time, the only thing I could smell was blueberry. It was true to its name when it came to the blueberry because I noticed small little dried blueberries along with some floral pieces and another kind of fruit. Also, each cup that is made has zero calories and no caffeine, so it is a good after-dinner tea. What I did not expect when I drank it was for it to taste so much like a blueberry muffin and when I added cream and sugar it was even better. If you are someone who likes new and interesting teas, this is a must try.
The last and, unfortunately, most disappointing tea I had was English Toffee. The smell from the container made my stomach turn a little bit because it reminded me of fake caramel and coffee. When I brewed it, the tea had a pretty golden-brown color. Despite the appeal the color may have had, it did not taste very good without cream or sugar. However, when I added them, it did not help it very much and I ended up dumping most of it out. On the bright side, it is zero calories per cup and has a very high caffeine content. Even with the one bad experience, I am still excited to try the rest of the teas that the sampler offers.
