Beacon Update

Volleyball: The UMass Boston Volleyball team has a chance to win its ninth LEC championship in the last 10 years, which speaks for itself and would be a remarkable accomplishment. They open their season in Ohio at the University of Mount Union Tournament, in which they will face off against Thiel College, Grove City College, Denison University, and College of Wooster. Their first home game will take place on Saturday, September 8 against Maine-Presque Isle, followed by a second match up against Bowdoin College.

Cross Country: Both the UMass Boston Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams will compete in their first meets on Saturday, September 15 at the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Invitational. Both will take place at 10:30 a.m., but there is good news if you cannot make it out to UMass Dartmouth to support your Beacons. The following Saturday on the 22, both the men and women will be competing at the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park, right here in Dorchester at 10:00 a.m.

Women’s Soccer: The UMass Boston Women’s Soccer team is poised to have a great year in 2018, but have a tough start to their schedule. They open up with four straight away games, as their first home contest will not come until September 11 when they take on Babson College at 7:00 p.M. In the preseason LEC poll, the Beacons are ranked fifth out of the nine teams in the conference. This is just a prediction of course, so they will have a great chance to surprise the LEC and make a run at a conference title.

Men’s Soccer: The UMass Boston Men’s Soccer team will open their season up against MIT at home on Friday, August 31. They will then go on the road for five straight games before returning back to UMass Boston to face off against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Thursday, September 13. The Beacons will try to build off of their winning record of 9-6-3 from last year.
