Mens Hockey
2-4-1 (0-4 ECAC East)
The most recent stretch started out pretty roughly for the guys. They suffered a 4-0 loss at Skidmore on Nov. 18, and suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of number three Castelton 6-3 the next day. After a few days off, they got back on track on Nov. 22 by rolling over Framingham, 9-1. Anthony Fitti scored a hat trick and added two assists to make a career day. Alex Scola and Matt Meisenbacher combined for a stellar day in net for the Beacons.
After Thanksgiving, the guys traveled to Manchester, NH for the PAL Cup tournament. The pulled out a 2-1 win over Worcester State in a shootout on Nov. 26 to advance to the championship round Against the Univ. of New England, where they suffered a heartbreaking loss, 4-3 in a shootout.
Women’s Hockey
3-4-2 (2-3-1 ECAC East)
Like the men, the ladies had a rough start to their most recent stretch. They lost 5-0 to nationally ranked Norwich on Nov. 18. They came back the next day with a huge win at home over St. Michael’s, 4-3 in OT. Sarahanne Cavolo scored the game winner in the extra frame to give the ladies their third win of the season.
The ladies rounded out their week with a hard fought, 1-1 tie after an OT period against Colby in Maine. Leah Hallett was fantastic in goal with 48 saves, and let in her only goal early in the first period. The ladies have a tough test ahead on Dec. 2 when they travel to Vermont to take on Castleton State. (7 p.m.)
Women’s Basketball
1-3 (0-0 LEAC)
The ladies opened their season with dissapointment. They were upset by Eastern Nazarene 58-46 at home on Nov. 16. They got back on track with a blowout win over Berkeley College (NY) on Nov. 18. Tasha Bernardez led the way with 19 points in the 74-40 Beacons win.
The ladies then faced Framingham in the finals of the UMB tip off classic. Although they started strong, the Rams ran past them in the second half, and got the 71-60 championship win. The next game for the ladies was a hard fought contest against undefeated Fitchburg, where they lost 76-72 despite a double double from Kirsten Morrison. The ladies now have some well deserved time off before starting up again on Dec. 1 at Wheelock (7 p.m.)
Men’s Basketball
1-3 (0-0 LEAC)
The guys had a test to start their season, when they faced off against nationally-ranked Ramapo college at home. They suffered a tough loss, 97-69, but looked much better on Nov. 22 against Fitchburg. Despite a 23 point night from Vinny Deluca and a double double from Issac Jenkins, they lost 87-81.
They then had a few days off before competing in the Harbor Invitational tournament on Nov. 25. The guys lost the opener to Wheelock, 73-59 but bounced back the next day with a 74-70 win over Framingham in the consolation game. Issac Jenkins was phenomenal with 33 points, his career high. They will be back in action on Dec. 1 at Suffolk (7 p.m.)
