Who Stepped Up?
Kristin Mulry
Women’s Soccer
It’s been a good week and a half for the senior forward. She started out her recent hot streak with a hat trick in a 9-0 win over RIC. She added a fourth goal for the week in a 4-0 win over Southern Maine on Oct. 1. In doing so, she became the first Lady Beacon to score 100 points in a soccer career. She still has half a season left to add to that total and set a record that will stand for a while.
Men’s Soccer
6-3 (1-2 LEAC)
The week for the Beacons started off with a disappointing 2-1 loss to RIC at home, which dropped them to 0-2 in the LEAC and panic might have been setting in. The guys kept their cool and pulled out a clutch 2-0 shutout win at Becker on Thursday behind two goals from Stefanos Galouzis. Brycen Dowd recorded his second straight shutout on Saturday, Oct. 1, with a 3-0 win over Southern Maine. Galouzis recorded yet another goal as well as an assist in the match. By beating the Huskies, the guys have a LEAC win under their belt and hopefully they’ve turned the corner and are heading for big things over the next few weeks.

Women’s Soccer
6-4 (2-1 LEAC)
The week started off with a heartbreaker for the ladies. A 2OT, 1-0 loss to Wheaton on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Dani Perkins was amazing in goal, making 6 saves over the course of the match. Wheaton was a tough team to face after a 9-0 slamming of RIC last Saturday, Oct. 2, but it became obvious that the loss wouldn’t slow the Beacons down. They rebounded with a great showing on the road against Southern Maine, downing the Huskies 4-0 behind a hat trick from Krista Ledin, and yet another shutout from Perkins. It was also an emotional day because senior Kristin Mulry scored her 100 point on a goal. A three-match week should give the Ladies a great chance to build up their résumé heading into the conference tournament.
Women’s Tennis
3-4 (2-1 LEAC)
The ladies definitely needed a big win against Western Connecticut to start off the week on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and they managed to pull it out with a solid 8-1 showing. Their match against Bridgewater was rained out on Saturday, Oct. 1.The team has had trouble hitting its stride this year mainly because they’ve had such long breaks between matches that it’s hard to put a streak together. With two weeks to go, hopefully the remaining sixmatches on the Beacons’ schedule will be played and the team can be contenders for the conference crown.
