The sophomore took a big jump in the level of competition she’s faced this year. Last year, as a rookie, she played 5th singles and she’s since jumped up to the 2nd place slot. She started out 2-4 in singles play and 3-0 when paired up with Hieu Nguyen for doubles.
“Well I had quite a jump from 5th singles last year to 2nd singles now, which is always tough but I feel really optimistic about the season and my abilities.

The Beacons had a bit of a tough week. They’re match against Southern Maine on Tuesday was rained out. Weather is starting to become a big issue for the Ladies this season. They have only played 2 home matches this season because the other 3 that were scheduled have been postponed with no makeup dates announced. Their only match this week was a tough 8-2 loss to Umass Dartmouth on saturday, dropping them to 1-1 in the conference. Hopefully the ladies will take the opportunity of having three matches this week, including a rare sunday gathering at home, and turn this ship around.

What a week it’s been for the ladies. The home schedule opened with a special “bleed blue” event in which free t shirts and pizza were given to a packed Clark Center crowd. The Beacons faced a pesky Trinity team but they got the 3-1 win. The success continued on Thursday night when they downed Johnson & Wales 3-0 in a laugher. The ladies rounded out the week with an easy win at RIC on Saturday, 3-0. New talent has combined with experienced veterans to make a lethal team for any LEAC team to face. At the rate their going, the ladies should have no trouble winning the conference.

It’s been a good week for the Lady Beacons. Last Tuesday they played a very strong match against Fitchburg that they lost 1-0 in OT. Dani Perkins was strong in goal but the Ladies just couldn’t sneak one by the Falcons. Krista Ledin and Kristin Mulry scored on Thursday to give the Beacons an easy 2-0 win at home over WPI. Dani Perkins shut out the Engineers and the team had Friday off before facing RIC at home on saturday. That one was a laugh. The Beacons got the win 9-0, a score which included hat tricks from 2 players (Krista Ledin and Kristin Mulry) and Perkins’ 2nd straight shutout. It seems that the ladies have hit their stride and are starting to make noise in the conference.
