DISPATCH is thought of by many to be one of the most important independent bands of all time. They played a concert in Boston they claimed would be their last in 2004. The show, fittingly titled “The Last DISPATCH,” drew 110,000 fans to the esplanade and is a legendary day in the history of indie music.
Three years later, the band announced they would play three nights at Madison Square Garden to benefit Zimbabwe; the shows were sold out within minutes. Nothing was heard from the band for the next three years. In November, mysterious messages began appearing on DISPATCH’s Facebook page and a countdown to the year 2011 with new artwork appeared on their website. Fans immediately began paying very close attention to DISPATCH, as this was their first activity since 2007. Each Monday from then on, the band cryptically released a new city they would attend. It was at midnight on January 1, 2011 that DISPATCH made their fan’s dreams come true. They announced the dates for their summer tour and that it would be benefiting Amplifying Education, a program that benefits educational programs in local communities. The final stop on the tour will be June 25th at the TD Garden in Boston.
DISPATCH also had another announcement that elated their fans. They announced that they are entering the studio later this month to record their first studio material since 2000’s ‘Who Are We Living For?’ This is the biggest comeback for DISPATCH ever, and it is not to be missed. Tickets for every show are $40.00 and go on sale on January 28th. They are expected to sell out within minutes so plan accordingly.
