Sophomore guard/forward Elisa Ogawa has been one of the up and comers on a team that has done nothing but exceed expectations. Ogawa has started every game this season, playing the fourth most minutes per game at almost 30 minutes a game. She is also fourth on the team in scoring at 6.6 points per game and third on the team in rebounds at 5.6 per game. Ogawa, who grew up in Japan before coming to high school in Boston, had a few moments to catch up with the MassMedia.
How do you prepare for a game?
I listen to my iPod. I have to listen the song from Tokyo Drift before my game. It really gets me ready and focused. It’s in our warm-up CD as well! As a team, we bang our lockers and make noise so we can get pumped up!
How has the team been able to triple last year’s win total this year?
We only have three returners so I didn’t feel like it compared to last year. We just wanted to win, one game at a time and we have done that.
What is your favorite activity outside of basketball?
I’m from Japan, so I personally watch a lot of cartoons. Also I love to eat candy!
