Graduating from UMass Boston would be exciting, except that it promises to be anticlimactic since I have already committed to going to graduate school at the University of Central Florida for a MA degree in the Literary, Cultural, and Textual program. UMass Boston has made me the kind of person who wants to go to school forever—and that includes all of the sleep deprivation that comes along with it.
For my last year at UMass Boston, I have been consumed with writing my senior honors thesis. With that said, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who put up with me when that was all I talked about. I especially want to thank my professors for helping improve my writing, who, like my mother, was always telling me to clean up my language and write more.
Saying goodbye is hard, but it isn’t like trying to say the name of that volcano in Iceland, Eyjafjallajokull, which proves that it’s all relative. I just feel lucky to have something that makes saying goodbye difficult in the first place.
Boston, you’re my home.
