8/22/2016
10:04 a.m. – A fire alarm went off in Wheatley Hall coming from the first floor electrical room. Boston Fire Department arrived on scene at 10:13 a.m. All floors were cleared. Boston Fire gave the all clear at 10:22 a.m. It turned out that the alarm was set off by a contractor accidentally drilling a hole through the fire alarm.
8:15 p.m. – UMass Boston Department of Public Safety officers checked University Drive South after a 911 hangup call which came from that area. DPS dispatch got the call from the area but could not pinpoint the caller’s exact location. Officers searched University Drive South and found nothing. Officers also checked the Harbor Walk. Officers cleared the area after finding nothing.

7:20 p.m. – Officers arrested Thomas James Wooten, age 50, of Dorchester on a court appearance default warrant. Officers found Wooten after a caller reported seeing a black male with a bag of tools and a rope hanging out of the bag. The female party called reporting that she felt weird after seeing a male party just standing in front of the Campus Center for a while not doing anything. An officer saw Wooten near the Integrated Science Center, reporting that Wooten was wearing a long black jacket and jeans. Officers arrested Wooten and transported him to the MBTA Transit Police Headquarters near Andrew Station.

6:23 p.m. – A female party came to the DPS station to report that her UMass Boston laptop had been stolen from her house in Chelmsford, MA. The female came to the office after first getting a report from Chelmsford Police Dept. and a DPS officer took additional information.
8/25/2016
8:57 a.m. – A staff member called DPS to report that he saw a female party in the Campus Center Lower Level garage in a handicap spot who seemed unwell and asked DPS to have someone check on her. Officers checked on the female and found that she was fine and was just hanging out.
4:28 p.m. – DPS received a call from a toll booth attendant about a car blocking the buses in the Clark Center Rotary and halting traffic. The attendant stated that the vehicle did not appear to be disabled. Officers arrived and found the vehicle to be unattended and blocking traffic. The car was labelled as belonging to the honorary consular corps and officers checked for the owner and ticketed the vehicle. Chevy Automobile Body of Dorchester was called to tow away the vehicle.
7:03 p.m. – A DPS officer reported to dispatch that he had found a truck in the 150 Parking Lot on University Drive West that had its back window broken. DPS found the truck to be owned by the Biology Department and called to know whether they were aware of the damage. DPS was notified that the biology department had broken the window themselves.
10:50 p.m. – DPS received a call from the assistant vice provost who was concerned about a student. The vice provost reported that the student had left a note on his math final with writing that the vice provost felt might suggest suicidal thoughts. DPS called the student’s mother who explained that the student has narcolepsy and that one side effect of his medication was bouts of similar writing.

8:06 a.m. – A DPS officer reported to dispatch that he would be taking a report of a possibly stolen golf cart at the Bond Brothers Construction Site on University Drive North. The officer spoke to a Harbor Point on the Bay official about the golf cart. The golf cart was parked in a Harbor Point on the Bay building. The DPS officer was able to get a key from Harbor Point security and returned it to Bond Brothers Construction.
9:59 a.m. – A party came to the DPS station to report that there was a male party lying on the couch near the Beacon Fitness Center in McCormack Hall with his hands down his pants. DPS checked the area but the male party had left.
8/29/2016
1:20 a.m. A DPS officer conducted a well-being check on Bianculli Boulevard inbound after a semi truck was parked. Truck driver was parked and was waiting to make a delivery at 5 a.m.
7:39 a.m. A male party came to the station to report that he had left his laptop in a drawer in the first floor of the Campus Center. When the male party returned on the 29th it was no longer there.
12:14 p.m. A female party called DPS reporting that there was a suspicious person near her car and she wanted them arrested. Officers arrived and reported that the person was a UMass Boston Parking and Transportation worker. Officers then notified that there was minor damage to the party’s car and that DPS was working on obtaining information.
