University of Massachusetts Boston softball player Elizabeth Erlandson (East Boston, MA) has been named Little East Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week of March 28-April 3, it was announced Monday, April 4, by the conference.
Erlandson batted .500 (5-10) in four games for the week, including a 3-5 output in an April 1 doubleheader at Eastern Connecticut State University. The junior also scored a run and struck out just once in 10 plate appearances. The outfielder went 2-3 with a run scored in the first game vs. Eastern Connecticut State and was 1-2 in the nightcap of the twinbill.
For the season, the Boston Latin High School product is hitting .400 (8-20) to rank second on the squad and has started all 10 games she has appeared in after missing the season opener with an ankle injury. She owns a .450 slugging average to place her third for the Beacons and her .400 on-base percentage is the second-highest mark on the team. She has also smacked a double, while scoring two runs and driving in another on the season.
The left-handed hitter has already established a season career best in hits and owns a career batting average of .263 (15-57) with four doubles, five RBI and nine runs scored.
UMass Boston is currently 2-14 on the season, including a 0-4 mark in LEC play and will be in action again on Saturday, April 16 when it hosts LEC-for Rhode Island College in a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMB.
