The UMass Boston’s men tennis team will head to the campus of Rhode Island College on May 2 and 3 for the annual Little East Conference tournament. This year’s field will be much smaller than it has been in the past, as only four Little East schools fielded teams for an entire season.
Last year, UMB was made proud when the tennis playing pair of Quazi Sadruzzaman and Kim Yang captured the top flight and fourth flight singles championship, respectively. Overall, the Beacons finished third.
This year, the Beacons return to the LEC tournament with Sadruzzaman as the number singles player. Veterans Mark Bailey and Cole Morrison will once again be joining Sadruzzaman at a LEC tennis tournament. Newcomers Pat Merrill, Chris Curtin, and Andrew DiPietro will most likely fill the remianing flight slots.
At the time of printing the Beacons record was 3-3. Due to an abundance of inclement weather this spring, the team rescheduled two games, April 29 against Newbury and April 30 against Rhode Island College.
