The UMB men’s ice hockey team knows that this has truly been a cold, cold winter.
The Beacons suffered a pair of ignominious defeats last weekend, losing twice on the road, first to Middlebury College 9-0 on Friday January 31, and then to Williams College 10-0 the following day. UMB’s record falls to a 0-16-1 record.
Nothing went right for the Beacons as the team managed to record a combined total of 33 shots for the two games, while allowing 98 shots to their opponents. UMB was also barren on the power play, going 0-8 for the weekend.
Middlebury’s Tim Schneider had a pair of goals and a pair of assists for a game high of four points. Teammates Andrew Helming (1-2-3) and Brad Michalchuk (1-2-3) had three points apiece. UMB’s goaltender Craig Paster registered 35 saves on 44 shots.
Williams’ players showed similar success on offense. Steve Baldassarri and Jabe Bergeron had two goals each, and totaled four points and three points, respectively. Jake Clapton, Devon O’Rourke, Brian Teixeira, and Wes Fox also chipped in with three points apiece. Paster was in net for the Beacons once again, this time coming up with 44 saves on 54 shots.
The Beacons will try to end their winless season against Connecticut College on Friday February at 7pm. The beacons also have a home match against Tufts University the following day.
