On Wednesday, October 8, 2003, 1:00 – 2:00PM in the Harbor Gallery, (Located on the first floor of McCormack) Kathleen Bitetti will discuss “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf,” her current project which features sculpture and installation works that address issues of domestic violence. The project began in Greater Lawrence, MA, where Bitteti was an artist in residence at the Essex Art Center in 2002 – 2003. The work will be on display during October to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month at the Harbor Art Gallery, UMass Boston and the Cardinal Cushing Library at Emmanuel College. Bitetti is an alumna of UMB, and was director of the Harbor Art Gallery from 1989 to 1992.
Guided Tours of the Sculpture Park as Part of Dorchester Open Studios
On October 25, 2003, 11am– 6pm Arts on the Point will offer tours of the arts in Dorchester. These tours will introduce the sculptures in the collection and highlight stories about the artists who made them. Tours will be offered every hour on the hour, rain or shine, and free of charge.
