If you have a set of golf clubs collecting dust in the closet, here’s an opportunity to get the rust out of your game and help student-athletes at the same time.
The William J. Devine golf course at Franklin Park will host the annual UMass Boston Athletics Department Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 17. The purpose of the event, now in its 17th year, is to raise money for the athletics department of UMB. The proceeds go toward funding the varsity athletic teams and the upkeep of the facilities, which various groups of the Greater Boston community utilize along with UMB athletic teams.
Besides 18 holes of golf, participants will receive a continental breakfast, a gift bag, a ticket to a raffle, and lunch after the round. Last year, over 125 individuals teed off, raising a sizeable amount of money for the department. The round starts at 8am.
