Golden Key International Honor Society recently sent out invitations to the juniors and seniors eligible for membership. New members pay a one-time membership fee of $60, which allows them access to benefits such as:-Academic recognition during the formal Induction Ceremony,-Networking with 1.5 million members at335 colleges and universities in seven countries,-An opportunity to vie for scholarships from the $500,000 available annually, -Leadership development and community service opportunities,-Career assistance through Golden Key’s corporate partners,-Member discounts and post-graduate benefits,-Award-winning member-only publications,-Certificate of Membership.Members are considered on an invitation-only basis. To be qualified for an invitation a student must have earned a total of 60 credits, 20 of which must be from UMass Boston, and have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. The induction ceremony and reception will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 7pm in the Ryan Lounge to welcome the new inductees.
Golden Key is involved in several charitable and voluntary organizations in the community. Some events that we participate in include: the Lupus walk, clothing & food drive to benefit local shelters and Make a Difference Day, just to name a few. In addition, Golden Key promotes an annual essay contest open to students from Boston Public High Schools. This year essay’s theme focuses on the importance of public higher education.
Each year, Golden Key hosts more than a dozen regional conferences and one international conference that bring its members together in order to share ideas and resources. This year, the UMass Boston chapter joins forces with the Boston College chapter to host the Northeastern Regional Conference on April 2-4 at Boston College’s campus. The deadline to register for the conference is March 20, 2004.
