Women’s soccer forward Krista Ledin became the 30^th woman in NCAA history to score 100 collegiate goals, a feat that she accomplished with an incredible strike between two Bridgewater State defenders. The goal was so filthy that it made the Top 10 Plays on the Oct. 29 edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter. Ledin, a senior Bridgewater native, still has one game remaining to try to build on her program record for career goals scored.
The women’s soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 5-0 pasting on Plymouth State on Oct. 25. Seniors Krista Ledin, Dani Perkins, Ericka Garufi, Amanda Pugliese, and Cindy Cortes were honored before the game. This group has seen the most success in program history, winning a Little East Conference title in 2012 and an LEC regular season title in 2013. The group stands at 9-4-5 this season and is poised to make another playoff run.
With a tie against Mass Maritime on Oct. 29, men’s soccer can no longer break the program record for wins in a season (13). However, they can still tie the mark with a home win on Senior Day against Rhode Island College. The Beacons have run ruff-shod over the LEC this year and they will be the number one seed when the conference tournament starts next week.
Men’s basketball will have a very young team this year. They only have four seniors on the roster. Gregory Young, Luc Ulysse, Carl Joseph, and Steven McGuire will be leading the way for a squad that starts its season on Nov. 18 against Colby Sawyer.
Volleyball reached the 20-win plateau for the seventh straight year with a win at Plymouth State of Oct. 28. Even though they only have one senior on the squad, the Beacons have plenty of winning experience. Every non-freshman on the team has at least one LEC title to her credit and Kirsten Morrison, the lone senior, has three so far and will be trying for a fourth. The Beacons have won 92 matches during Morrison’s tenure, their third best total in a four year stretch in program history, trailing 2009-2012 (108) and 2008-2011 (103).
On Nov. 1, the Cross Country team finished sixth out of six teams at the Little East Championship meet. That marks the end of their season and they will be turning their attention to the upcoming indoor track season.
Men’s hockey opened up their season with a truly historic win over UMass Dartmouth. The Beacons defeated the Corsairs 15-3. In the drubbing, three different Beacons had hat tricks (Jeremy Finger, Kit Sitterly, Nathan Millam), and they scored an incredible ten goals in the third period. What was most impressive was a four-goal outburst in an 86 second span early in the third. The Beacons followed that up with a 6-4 win at Curry and a 5-4, OT win at New England College. 
The Women’s team has also been off to a great start. They began their season with a home-and-home series against William Smith, which they swept, 4-1 and 6-2. They followed the wins up with a wild victory over New England College, 6-5. Both teams have started 3-0 for the first time in history.
