1:00 p.m. An English faculty member called after an English professor received 40 threatening emails from a former student. The professor had contacted his local police department and was going to go to court the next day. In one of the emails from the former student stated, “because you know goddamn well, I’ll blow your fucking school out of the water.” Officers contacted the professor in order to take a report.
4:37 p.m. Public Safety received a call from central station in the Bayside Building that stated they had received a notification about low CO2 and fire trouble. The central station noted that it was an alarm. Public Safety called utilities department and they said that they would notify the contractor to handle the problem.

2:23 p.m. A male party came to Public Safety to report that his locker in McCormack Hall had been broken into. The party reported that someone had stolen his sneakers. The male also told officers that his locker had been broken into before and his laptop had been stolen.

9:52 a.m. A professor came to Public Safety to report that someone had stolen a gift card from her office in Wheatley Hall on Thursday, Dec. 17.
10:25 a.m. A member of Parking & Transportation came to Public Safety to file a complaint after Parking & Transportation received two counterfeit $10 bills.

3:19 p.m. Public Safety received a call about an alarm going off in Healey Library. Facilities was notified.
3:23 p.m. Public Safety received a call about an emergency phone in the Quinn Building not working. Public Safety told the caller that they would try to get someone to fix the phone but that all the technicians had gone home for the day.

8:27 a.m. Officers patrolled the Quinn Building after there was a power outage. Bayside Building and the bursar’s office in the Ca.m.pus Center were also down. Members of Fire Safety were also called to help monitor the Quinn Building and the Clark Athletic Center. NStar was working to fix the power and the lights were supposed to be back on by 10 a.m. the next day. Officers went around the building to tell people that the power was down.
2:52 p.m. Officers went to Wheatley Hall to look at one of the men’s bathrooms after smoke was seen coming through the vents. When officers arrived everything appeared to be in order and it was thought that the smoke might have come from an e-cigarette.

7:27 a.m. A member of the Receiving Department called to state there was smoke coming from the 150 Mt. Vernon St. loading dock. Upon arrival officers discovered that the smoke was caused by a heating coil that had frozen and broke. Facilities was called and they stated they would send someone over immediately.
8:59 a.m. A party called to report that there was smoke coming from one of the men’s bathrooms on the first floor of Wheatley Hall. Facilities was called and they said they would send someone to clear the trouble alarm. It was discovered that welding in the Upper Level of Wheatley Hall had caused the smoke.

12:52 p.m. Officers searched the first floor of Wheatley Hall after there was a reported burning smell coming from one of the men’s bathrooms. Facilities was notified. Officers reported that there was a lot of smoke in the bathroom. It was discovered that construction workers welding pipes in the Upper Level of Wheatley Hall had caused the smoke.

3:00 p.m. A male party came to the Public Safety office to report that several people on campus had been sexually harassing him in the hallways.

5:29 p.m. Public Safety called Facilities after a fire alarm went off in the Wheatley Hall garage. Boston Fire Department had arrived on campus. Boston Fire Department and Public Safety cleared the area after it was found that Facilities was working in the area. The alarm was turned off.

8:51 p.m. A female party called Public Safety to report that she had encountered an older white male party in the Campus Center who seemed to be lost. The female told officers that she had spoken to the male and he told her that he knew where he was going. The female told officers that she had seen the same male walking on the main road and he appeared to be disoriented. Officers talked to the male. He appears to be homeless and told officers that he was walking to the JFK/UMass station. Officers noted that he appeared not to be disoriented and that he seemed to know where he was going.

10:17 a.m. A member of College of Nursing & Health Sciences called Public Safety to report that there was a strong odor on the 3rd floor of the Science that appeared to be cigar or cigarette smoke. Officers searched the hallways and stairwell and nothing was showing.

11:19 a.m. Customer Service called Public Safety to report the smell of gasoline coming from the vents in the first floor of McCormack Hall. Customer Service had already notified Environmental Health & Safety. Facilities was radioed to see if they were doing work in the area. Officers confirmed that work was being done in the Upper Level garage.
1/23/2015
9:36 a.m. A party contacted Public Safety after three bags were found unattended near the Ross Center in the Campus Center. The bags consisted of a black duffle bag, an grey army duffle bag, and a black backpack. Officers brought the bags back to Public Safety to determine who the owner was. Officers searched the bags, and after finding the owner’s name attempted to contact him. After the owner had been contacted, Public Safety held the bags until the male party came to pick them up.
10:25 a.m. A Facilities member came to Public Safety to get officers’ help with directing traffic on the Mt. Vernon Access Rd. while Facilities was repairing a traffic light.
3:03 p.m. A female party called Public Safety after her wallet had been stolen from her office.
