Outdoor Track & FieldChris FitzgeraldA certified health and fitness instructor, Fitzgerald was a four-year standouton the college cross-country circuit for Division II Northern KentuckyUniversity, where he captained the Norse during his junior and senior seasons.He proved to be one of NKU’s most dependable runners, placing as a scorer inevery meet that he competed, including top ten finishes in eight of his last 14meets.Fitzgerald, who earned a Master of Science degree in Exercise and Health Studiesfrom Miami University in Ohio, has been active on the coaching level as well,lending his experience and knowledge to members of the Marathon Strides againstMultiple Sclerosis team, which was formed to help the MS Society raise moneythrough marathons. He also spent two years training over 50 runners for theCincinnati Flying Pig Marathon in Ohio.Fitzgerald has been a member of the UMass Boston family year round, serving asGeneral Manager of the Beacon Fitness Center located on the institution’scampus.  Fitzgerald remains competitive on the road racing scene and hascompleted six marathons, including the 2000 and 2001 Boston Marathon.BaseballBrendan EygabroatIn just two seasons, Head Coach Brendan Eygabroat has already led the Beaconnine to milestones never broached before. In just his first season at the headof UMB’s baseball post, he led UMass Boston to its most wins in the conferencein school history and a first-ever win in Little East Conference tournament. Hefollowed that last season by establishing a new school-record for wins in LittleEast Conference play and took down national powerhouses, University of SouthernMaine and Eastern Connecticut State University for the first time in schoolhistory. His pitching staff shattered the school-mark for lowest earned runaverage, posting a 4.48 figure in 2006, led by Nick Conway, the first-ever UMBplayer to be named Little East Conference Pitcher of the Year.Prior to his arrival on the Harbor Campus, he spent four seasons as an AssistantCoach at nearby Suffolk University, where he worked with the Rams’ hitters andcatchers. Before joining the college coaching ranks, Eygabroat enjoyed anoutstanding college playing career at Mary Washington College in Virginia, wherehe helped the Eagles to a pair of NCAA Regional tournament appearances in 2001and 1998. The Rochester, New York native was named captain for the MaryWashington nine for his senior season and hit .341 on way to earning SouthRegion Honorable Mention honors as well as a spot on the Capital AthleticConference First Team. He also helped the Eagles capture the CAC championship asa freshman.Eygabroat graduated from Mary Washington in 2001 and earned a masters degree inhigher education administration from Suffolk in 2003.LacrosseMyles BerryMyles Berry, who has orchestrated the UMass Boston lacrosse team’s transitionfrom its humble beginnings to one of the region’s most consistent teams, beginshis 18th season as the Beacons’ head coach in 2005.Berry’s coaching career flourished in the ’90s as he nurtured the program into aconsistent winner, evidenced by a 118-70 record in the past 13 years. His 1993team set a university record for wins in a season when it finished 11-3, and the1996 squad improved that mark with its 12-1 season, while the 2001 team matchedthat win total with a 12-5 campaign. His overall coaching record stands at125-111.Berry was named Little East Conference Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003 andhas guided UMass Boston to 11 .500-or-better seasons in its last 13 campaigns.He directed the Beacons to their first ECAC tournament in more than 20 years in2001, while also competing for the inaugural Little East Conference (LEC)championship. He’s had the privilege to coach a total of 17 Little EastConference All-Stars the past four seasons, including an LEC Offensive Player ofthe Year.SoftballAmy ZombeckZombeck returns for her third season with UMass Boston after establishing a newschool-record for wins last year. She has also seen five of her players earnLittle East All-Conference status.Prior to her arrival to the Harbor campus, the multi-sport athlete served as theAssistant Coach for Keene State College women’s soccer for four years. Prior tojoining the Keene State coaching staff, Zombeck was a highly decorated soccerplayer for the Owls, earning Little East Conference Player of the Year honors asa senior. The midfielder was named Second-Team All-American by the Division IIINational Soccer Coaches Association of America, as well as All-Regional FirstTeam and Little East Conference First Team as both a junior and senior. Zombeckearned All-Region Second Team accolades for her junior and senior campaigns fromthe New England Women’s Soccer Coaches Association of America and following hersophomore year she was tabbed as a member of the Division II NSCAA All-RegionalSecond Team after leading Keene State to an appearance in the NCAA tournament.    Zombeck graduated from KSC in 1999 with a degree in sociology and also earned amaster of education degree from Keene State in 2004.
