What comes to your mind when you hear Astrology Conference? Be honest: you are probably imagining a bunch of old ladies—fortune tellers, eccentrically dressed, all of their taro decks handy, ready to be spread on the fancy cloths. Or do you picture them having a giant telescope they are peering in all night long?
Well, none of that was true! The University of Massachusetts Boston had a taste of a real Astrology Conference and here is what really happened!
The conference, put on by the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR) conference and called “Many Faces of Astrology,” took place in Baltimore, MD (February 15-19). Astrological diversity was the main theme of the event.
Different approaches to practicing astrology were introduces through seminars and workshops taught by experienced astrologers (over 40 speakers). All of them were representing large non-profit astrological organizations, including NCGR, International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), American Federation of Astrologers (AFA), and others.
Each one of those organizations hosts a conference each year, where they provide an opportunity for practicing astrologers as well as astrology enthusiasts to get together, share their experiences and research results, or simply network, teach, and study.
Attendees were offered lectures on different topics like Financial or Business Astrology, Relationships, Personal Developments and Spirituality, Medical Astrology, and Psychological Counseling.
Indeed, there were a lot of different “faces” of astrology presented. And yes, Taro lectures were offered too, if you were wondering. The Astrology Certificate Examination was offered, too, for those willing to test their knowledge of astrology, taking the hobby to the level of certified astrologer.
One might ask if there were a lot of oddballs.  Not really—that’s just a stereotype, a common misconception. No gypsy-type, funky business gurus were present at the conference. Naturally, though, a lot of attendees were wearing exquisite fine clothes showing off stars, planets, and cosmic patterns.
Practicing astrology requires constant learning and development; the latest research needs to be applied to an astrological chart and proper assumptions and predictions need to be made. This conference was organized to meet those needs and wants of the current astrological community.
Over 350 people attended the conference and most of them were just astrology enthusiasts or stargazers, like you and me. We can conclude that the number of people interested in spirituality and astrology grows from generation to generation, and this astrology conference was just another great example of that notion.
